gas flow starts at new Jaisalmer field, Puri calls it major success
Barmer/Jaisalmer, May 26 -- Rajasthan's energy sector has received a major boost with Oil India Limited (OIL) discovering a new gas-bearing zone in the Sonu Formation of the Dandewala Field in Jaisalmer. Natural gas has started flowing from the formation for the first time, with current production estimated at nearly 25,000 standard cubic metres per day, raising hopes for further hydrocarbon discoveries in the western desert region.
According to the company, natural gas has started flowing for the first time from the Sonu Formation, marking a significant milestone in the hydrocarbon exploration potential of the region.
Union petroleum and natural gas minister Hardeep Singh Puri congratulated the Oil India team on the achievement, describing it as a major success for the energy sector.
The breakthrough at the Dandewala Field has also raised hopes for further gas discoveries across Rajasthan.
