Jaipur, May 8 -- Maximum temperatures across most parts of the state may increase by 3 to 5 degrees Celsius over the next three to four days as thunderstorm and rainfall activity weakens, according to the Meteorological Department.
A fresh spell of heatwave is likely to begin in western Rajasthan from May 9, with temperatures in border districts of the Jodhpur division expected to touch 45 degrees Celsius or more.
On Thursday, light rain was reported in Sawai Madhopur, while parts of Tonk witnessed rainfall accompanied by hail for around 15 minutes during the afternoon. The showers brought temporary relief from the heat and are expected to slightly reduce local temperatures.
However, the respite is likely to be short-lived. The weather department has warned that heatwave conditions may also affect Sawai Madhopur from May 9 onward.
Most cities across Rajasthan witnessed clear skies and intense sunshine on Wednesday, leading to a rise of 2 to 3 degrees Celsius in daytime temperatures. In western districts, maximum temperatures have already crossed 40-degree Celsius mark.
The Meteorological Centre in Jaipur has issued a yellow alert for rain in Bharatpur and Dholpur districts.
The department has also warned of strong dusty winds in the Jodhpur division and adjoining regions from May 7 onward....
