four-time former legislator Babulal Bairwa dies at 73
Bharatpur/Alwar, May 4 -- Four-time former MLA Babulal Bairwa died on Sunday during treatment in Sawai Man Singh hospital in Jaipur.
The 73-year-old was admitted in the hospital for the past several days after suffering from blood pressure and diabetes-related issues. He died around 3 am.
He was a four-time MLA from Kathumar in Alwar district. Bairwa emerged as a dalit leader in Rajasthan. He was first elected as an independent MLA in 1980, then in 1985 on a Congress ticket. He was elected as an MLA for the third time in 2008 on a BJP ticket. He last won on a Congress ticket by 14,168 votes in 2018 after defeating the BJP candidate.
Former chief minister Ashok Gehlot expressed grief over his demise, calling it a great loss to politics and social life in the region.Leader of Opposition Tikaram Jully also condoled his death.
The last rites of Bairwa will be performed at his native village Ronijathan in Kathumar later Sunday....
