Barmer/Balotra, July 14 -- Five people were killed and three others injured after their allegedly speeding SUV crashed into the rear of a dumper truck on the Barmer-Jodhpur National Highway in Balotra district late Sunday, police said on Monday. The deceased were identified as Revantaram (26), Swarooparam (27), Bharat (25), Kishan (27) and Bhavesh. Head constable at Pachpadra police station, Dungaram Khoth said the impact of the crash mangled the car and left the eight occupants trapped. "All the occupants are from Kanod village," he said, adding that they were returning from Jodhpur after offering prayers at Bhomiyaji Temple. Three were declared dead on arrival at Government Nahata Hospital in Balotra, and two others died in Jodhpur, where they were referred for advanced treatment.
