Five dead in car-trailer collision
Jaipur, Feb. 15 -- At least five people of a family from Madhya Pradesh died after the vehicle they were travelling in, lost control and rammed into a trailer which was coming from the opposite side on a national highway in Jaipur's Chaksu on Saturday, a police officer familiar with the matter said.
Station house officer (SHO) of Chaksu police station Manohar Meghwal said: "The accident occurred at around 5 am on Saturday on the NH-52 at Chaksu when they were heading towards Sikar's Khatu Shyamji temple. All five passengers including the driver died in the accident."
According to police, the five are the residents of Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh and were members of the same family. They went to Ujjain's Mahakaleshwar temple on Friday from where they were heading to Khatu Shyam temple. They were supposed to return on Saturday afternoon after the visit to the temple.
"When they were crossing the NH-52 near Chaksu's Tigoria circle, their driver had probably dozed off and lost control of the steering. It had collided with a trailer immediately which was coming from the opposite side. The collision was so intense that the car got completely crushed," said SHO.
The locals immediately arrived on the spot and pulled the victims out. Of the five victims, Reshma Shrivastava (55), Peeyush Rai (40), Rahul Rajak (35), and driver Anurag (25) were declared dead on arrival while Shanu (28) died during the treatment.
"The bodies have been sent for post-mortem while their family members were also informed. We have also removed the car through crane to clear the highway," said the officer....
