Barmer, Sept. 19 -- Financial irregularities have come to light in the Barmer Municipal Council, where payments amounting to Rs.1.80 crore were made to two firms without issuing tenders or procuring any goods, police said, adding a case has been registered against former council chairman Dilip Mali, former commissioner Yogesh Acharya, and several council staff.
According to the report filed by current commissioner Shravan Singh Rajawat, in 2023 payments were released to two firms - Sundhamata Construction Company and Agrawal Trading Company - in the name of supplying materials for 36 Indira Rasois in rural areas under the state's "Inflation Relief Camp" scheme.
However, no tender process was carried out by the council, nor was any supporting documentation found. Investigations revealed that both firms had already participated in tenders through the Zila Parishad (district council) and supplied the material there, for which they had already received payments.
Later, in collusion with municipal officials, they raised duplicate bills and secured another round of payments.
Police on Wednesday filed an FIR against the officials, staff members Ganpat Vishnoi, Shravan Kumar, and Vishanchand Gharu, along with two firms.htc...
