Jaipur, Sept. 20 -- Former IAS officer Rajeshwar Singh on Friday assumed charge as the State Election Commissioner of Rajasthan. Soon after taking charge at the Secretariat, Singh said that ensuring fairness, transparency, and credibility in the electoral process would be the Commission's priority. "Be it the election department or the State Election Commission, the biggest challenge is to maintain neutrality and impartiality. The process should be flawless, fair, and non-controversial so that no finger is raised and every stakeholder feels satisfied," Singh said. On the issue of urban local body and panchayat elections, Singh said the Commission would act in line with constitutional provisions and the final orders of the court. Responding to opposition charges over delays, he said, "We have no side-neither government nor opposition. We are neutral."...
