Dotasra, 2 distt chiefs responsible for Cong's loss: Former minister
Bharatpur, Oct. 1 -- Former Congress minister Vishvendra Singh on Wednesday accused Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) chief Govind Singh Dotasara and the party's Bharatpur and Deeg district presidents of the party's loss and weakening in the two districts.
Singh made the allegations in a statement posted on his Facebook page on Wednesday.
He named Bharatpur district Congress president Dinesh Soopa and Deeg district Congress president Rajeev Singh, alleging that the two were responsible for the party's defeat in the recent civic body elections in the two districts.
Singh alleged that the two district presidents ignored party workers while distributing tickets for the civic body elections and gave party symbols to people close to them.
"In the recent civic body elections, the people taught the Congress a lesson. They buried the party in both districts," Singh said, adding that voters would "bury" the two district presidents and Dotasara, whom he accused of supporting them, in the coming elections.
He said Bharatpur is the home district of chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and argued that the Congress should have been strong in the district. Instead, he alleged, the party had been weakened by the actions of its local leadership.
Singh also criticised Dotasara, alleging that the PCC chief had remained silent despite the developments in the two districts. "The progress of the Congress is impossible unless both district presidents are removed from here. The state Congress leadership needs to wake up".
He said he would not change parties and that it was his duty to alert senior Congress leaders about the party's functioning.
He also warned Dotasara against entering Bharatpur, referring to his earlier confrontation with former PCC chief Chandrabhan Singh in 2013.
On the issue of examination paper leaks, Singh alleged that 17 paper leaks took place during the previous Congress government but no action was taken against those responsible. He also alleged that the present BJP government led by CM Sharma had failed to take action against those accused in such cases.
HT reached out to the three Congress leaders but could not get a response.
Earlier, in Bhilwara, PCC member Manoj Paliwal staged a sit-in at the district Congress office on Monday against Dotasara. He demanded his resignation, alleging 17 candidates were not given Congress symbols....
