Jaipur, June 26 -- Four days after the arrest of Babita Dhakad alias Khadija, 37, from Jaipur for allegedly maintaining links with members of the banned terrorist organisation Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), investigators have uncovered foreign contacts and digital trails they say indicate ties to Pakistan-based terrorists and plans to travel overseas, officials aware of the matter said. Senior officials associated with the probe said some foreign numbers recovered from the woman's phone have previously been used by wanted terrorists. An Anti-terrorism Squad (ATS) official said a contact saved as "Co Zirar 5B" was found on Babita's phone. Referring to FIRs registered in Jammu and Kashmir, investigators claim the number was used by Qari Zarar, a commander of Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Islam, who was allegedly involved in the November 29, 2016, attack on an Indian Army camp in Jammu that killed six soldiers. Another Pakistani number, saved under the name "Osama Ghori", is alleged to have been used by Yusuf Azhar alias Ustad Ghori, brother-in-law of JeM founder Masood Azhar. Yusuf Azhar is wanted in connection with the 1999 hijacking of Indian Airlines flight IC-814. "We are currently conducting an investigation at the primary level. The process of retrieving digital evidence is ongoing. Efforts are also underway to convert the digital evidence obtained into physical evidence," ATS SP Manish Tripathi told HT. IG ATS Rajesh Singh said the woman is still being interrogated on remand. "We are investigating the case from every angle," he said. According to senior officials, intelligence inputs received three to four months ago suggested the woman was in contact with members of proscribed organisations. Her activities were monitored before an FIR was registered on the night of June 19, 2026. She was arrested in the early hours of June 20, 2026, and later remanded to seven days' police custody.
