Devas project to boost Udaipur's water supply
Jaipur, Oct. 10 -- Udaipur is set to receive an additional 1,000 million cubic feet (MCF) of water annually once the third and fourth phases of the Devas project are completed, strengthening drinking water supplies and helping maintain levels in lakes Pichola and Fateh Sagar, according to an official release.
The two phases involve constructing dams with a combined capacity of 1,093 MCF and nearly 15 km of tunnels to divert water between river basins and connect it to the city's existing supply system.
Under Devas-IV, a 390 MCF dam and a 4.15-km tunnel are being built near Ambawa village in Gogunda tehsil. Devas-III includes a 703 MCF dam near Nathiyathal village and a 10.50-km tunnel linking it to the Devas-II system at Akodara dam.
Officials said affected families would be rehabilitated near their existing settlements, with residential plots and basic infrastructure provided.
