decomposed body of woman found close to chittorgarh fort
Udaipur, June 6 -- The decomposed body of an unidentified woman was found concealed behind bushes near the Jharneshwar Mahadev temple in Chittorgarh district on Friday, police said, adding that the face was crushed by a stone and covered with a T-shirt.
A group of sanitation workers discovered the body after they noticed a foul smell from the bushes while cleaning a nearby drain. Kotwali station house officer (SHO) Tulsiram Prajapat reached the spot and informed senior officers. A Mobile Forensic Science Unit and the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team arrived later to collect evidence.
"The body appears to be three to four days old. The victim's face was crushed with a stone to hide her identity, and the stone was found placed over the face. There were no clothes on the body, while a T-shirt had been used to cover the face," said SHO Prajapat. Police also found a water bottle, and packets of snacks near the body.
"There is a possibility that the woman was sexually assaulted but it will be confirmed after the postmortem report . We are also investigating the case from that angle, " said SP Dharmendra Singh, adding that efforts were underway to identify the victim....
