couple get life sentence for killing woman's husband in ajmer
Ajmer, April 26 -- A Kishangarh court has sentenced a couple to life in prison for the murder of the woman's husband in Ajmer district in 2021, people familiar with the proceedings said on Saturday.
The additional district and sessions court no 2 delivered the judgement on Friday.
Presiding judge Shalini Sharma found the accused- identified as Kiran and her boyfriend Arjun- guilty under sections 302 (murder) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code. Both were also ordered to pay a fine of Rs.25,000 each, with non-payment liable for an extra year in prison.
Additionally, both were found guilty under section 201 for destruction of evidence, and sentenced to seven years of rigorous imprisonment and an additional fine of Rs.15,000.
According to public prosecutor Padamraj Saini, the incident occurred at the Kishangarh home where Kiran lived with her husband, Ramswaroop. The couple had two children. After Ramswaroop caught Kiran and Arjun together, they attacked him, bludgeoned his head and subsequently strangled him to death.
The partially decomposed body was found inside a plastic sack hidden beneath a pile of rocks near a mineral factory in the Silora RIICO area, said the prosecutor, adding that the face was blackened partially to prevent identification. Kiran fled to Madhya Pradesh with Arjun and her children the day after the murder.
The court also recommended that the deceased's children be compensated ably under the Victim Compensation Scheme, and ordered the district legal services authority to look into the matter and take appropriate action....
