BIKANER, Aug. 6 -- The alleged coordinator of a cross-border narco-arms syndicate was arrested in Bikaner district on Wednesday after a 13-month pursuit, police said, adding that the accused was wanted in the heroin drone-drop case in Pugal in April and last week's heroin-and-arms seizure near the International Border in Khajuwala. Station house officer (SHO) of Khajuwala police station Ashok Bishnoi said that the operation was carried out by a joint team of the District Special Team (DST), Cyber Cell and Khajuwala police. The team began piecing together every available clue about the coordinator, identified as Rakesh Prajapat, 29, mapped his associates, activated the human intelligence network and continuously analysed technical as well as field inputs to establish his movements. Every lead was verified before police received specific intelligence on Wednesday that Prajapat, allegedly concealing his identity, had left Punjab in a truck and was heading towards Jodhpur, he said. A naka was immediately laid on the expressway, vehicles were checked and he was intercepted and arrested, the SHO said. Prajapat carried a cumulative reward of Rs.75,000, including Rs.50,000 announced by the Inspector General of Police, Bikaner Range, and Rs.25,000 by Pali police. Police on Sunday announced the seizure of 10 kg of heroin, 11 foreign-made pistols and ammunition allegedly dropped by a Pakistani drone in Khajuwala sector and arrested an alleged courier.
