Jaipur, Oct. 29 -- All India Mahila Congress president Alka Lamba on Wednesday raised concerns over the deletion of 4.18 million names from Rajasthan's draft electoral roll during the special intensive revision (SIR), demanding transparency in the process and safeguards to ensure that no eligible voter is deprived of the right to vote. Addressing reporters in Jaipur, Lamba cited Election Commission data to point out that Rajasthan had 54.6 million registered voters on October 27, 2025, while the draft electoral roll published on December 16, 2025, included 50.4 million voters, leaving 4,184,891 names out. Lamba said being classified as shifted or absent did not automatically mean that a person was ineligible to vote. She urged the EC to ensure that eligible voters were given adequate opportunities to get their names included in the electoral roll. Demanding greater accountability, Lamba called for district-wise disclosure of the reasons for deletions, verification status, complaints resolved and eligible voters whose names were subsequently restored. She also stressed the need for effective mechanisms to protect the voting rights of women, young voters and migrant workers. She also appealed to people to participate in the Congress's rally in Delhi on November 1. Commenting on it, BJP state secretary Ekta Agarwal said, "Congress is trying to create confusion... The names were categorised under deceased, shifted or absent, and duplicate entries, and the claims-and-objections process allowed eligible voters to seek inclusion. Instead of making baseless allegations, Congress should explain the facts and cooperate with the EC to ensure that every eligible voter is registered."...
