Jaipur, Sept. 27 -- Ahead of the Panchayati Raj elections, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on Saturday inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for 1,452 development works worth more than Rs.924 crore across seven districts of the Udaipur division. The projects include 423 completed works worth Rs.256 crore and 1,029 proposed works worth Rs.668 crore. According to state government figures, Udaipur accounts for 526 works worth Rs.166.80 crore, Dungarpur 105 worth Rs.189.85 crore, Chittorgarh 88 worth Rs.164.57 crore, Banswara 77 worth Rs.89.68 crore, Pratapgarh 436 worth Rs.109.77 crore, Rajsamand 130 worth Rs.108.50 crore and Salumbar 90 worth Rs.95.05 crore. Addressing a ceremony in Pratapgarh, Sharma said "a Gram Vikas Chaupal held in Bambori had given him an opportunity to speak with villagers about their culture, traditions and needs." He said the government was working to improve access to water, electricity, roads, education, healthcare and livelihood opportunities in villages. The chief minister said "the completed works included 14 electricity projects worth Rs.87 crore, 15 drinking water and irrigation projects worth more than Rs.75 crore, seven road projects worth Rs.22 crore, and 19 school projects worth more than Rs.9 crore." Other works, he said, covered healthcare, skill development, hostels, tribal development and public infrastructure. Among the projects for which foundation stones were laid were 299 road works worth Rs.429 crore, 562 rural development works worth Rs.73 crore and six healthcare projects worth Rs.71 crore, Sharma said. On tribal welfare, Sharma cited the Centre's PM-JANMAN scheme and Dharti Aaba Tribal Village Utkarsh Abhiyan, which he said aimed to improve housing, electricity, drinking water, healthcare and road access in tribal areas. He also referred to Eklavya Model Residential Schools and hostel facilities for tribal students. Sharma said "BJP government had increased the honorariums of education workers, women helpers, sanitation workers and health workers at Maa-Baadi centres." "530 Van Dhan Vikas Kendras had been established in eight districts, a skill development centre had been built in Udaipur, and the monthly mess allowance for students had been raised to Rs.3,250. Orders had also been issued to open 250 new Maa-Baadi centres" he said further. The chief minister said 2.36 lakh agricultural minikits had been distributed to tribal farmers and loans worth Rs.925 crore had been disbursed under the Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Rajasthan Dalit, Tribal Enterprise Promotion Scheme. He also cited state initiatives to document and promote tribal art and culture. On employment, Sharma said the state government had filled 1.9 lakh posts during its tenure and recruitment for another 1.22 lakh posts was underway. A recruitment calendar for 1.25 lakh posts had been released for 2026, he said. He added that Atal Gyan Kendras at the panchayat level would provide facilities such as e-libraries and e-Mitra services to rural youth. Sharma said work was underway to provide daytime electricity to farmers in every district by 2027. He also referred to agreements concerning the Ram Jal Setu Link, Yamuna, Narmada and Kishau water projects. At the event, Sharma launched "Adiparag" wild forest honey, the first product under the "Vangiri" brand introduced by the Rajasthan Tribal Area Development Cooperative Federation Limited, or RAJSANGH, to support the collection, processing and sale of minor forest produce.
