CM pushes distt-led model for Viksit Bharat
Jaipur, June 23 -- Chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on Monday said Rajasthan is playing a leading role in realizing the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, with the state government prioritising a district-based development model and implementing growth plans in a structured manner. He said a new development framework is being built around the unique identity, local resources and economic potential of every district to take the state's economy to new heights.
Addressing a meeting on District Domestic Product Estimation at the chief mainister's residence in the presence of KV Raju, Sharma said Rajasthan's industry, investment and governance-oriented policies have attracted significant investments.
He added that the state's startup ecosystem is expanding rapidly, with more than 6,000 active startups currently generating employment and innovation opportunities for youth.
K V Raju lauded the state government's efforts, describing Rajasthan as an "achiever state" and highlighting its performance in drinking water supply and rural development schemes. He said the state possesses immense potential in tourism, agriculture, mining and solar energy, and suggested that technology-driven databases could help better capture these sectors' contributions to the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP).
He also stressed the need for continuous monitoring of government schemes, capacity building and expanding survey sample sizes in the unorganised sector to improve economic assessment.
Sharma said the state is implementing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Vocal for Local vision through the comprehensive development of aspirational sub-divisions based on geographical conditions, cultural strengths, local needs and economic opportunities.
He said key crops and products are being identified and linked with processing, storage and marketing strategies. The initiative is also strengthening small-scale, cottage and traditional industries, generating employment and boosting local economies.
The Chief Minister said the government has launched the Mukhyamantri Viksit Gram-Shahri Ward Abhiyan to ensure balanced and planned development from district level down to villages and urban wards. Under the campaign, development master plans are being prepared with public participation and local inputs, keeping the years 2030, 2035 and 2047 in focus.
Sharma emphasised that a robust district-level economic accounting system is essential for accurately measuring growth. The government is therefore developing a data-driven model covering agriculture, livestock, dairy, cooperatives, mining and other primary sectors.
He announced that a District Domestic Product Portal will be developed to scientifically collect, analyse and monitor economic data at the district level, enabling more accurate evaluation of development outcomes.
The Chief Minister noted that Rajasthan has emerged as one of India's leading renewable energy-producing states. Investments and innovation in green energy, he said, are not only accelerating economic growth but also strengthening the state's commitment to sustainable development.
Expressing confidence in the state's trajectory, Sharma said Rajasthan is moving rapidly towards becoming a developed state through district-centric planning, data-driven policymaking, promotion of local enterprises, innovation, investment and renewable energy, thereby making a significant contribution to the national goal of Viksit Bharat 2047....
