Jaipur, May 31 -- Chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on Saturday said that the state government's zero-tolerance approach towards corruption was non-negotiable. Addressing the 9th Convention (Maha Adhiveshan) of the Rajasthan Nagar Palika Karmchari Federation, Sharma said that under his tenure, 103 officers were suspended, six were dismissed from service, and 11 corrupt officials were stripped of lifetime pension. "I will neither indulge in corruption, nor allow it," said Sharma, referring to a slogan previously used by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He added that the government has granted prosecution sanction in 108 cases involving bribery, trap operations, abuse of office, and disproportionate assets, while taking stringent action under Section 17-A of the Prevention of Corruption Act in 37 further cases. "The first and most direct contact the common citizen has is with municipal workers," said the chief minister, saluting their role in sanitation, drinking water, roads, sewer maintenance, parks, fire services, and issuance of birth-death certificates. On the urban development front, Sharma said that 363 projects across 200 cities and towns were underway under Amrit 2.0, backed by an outlay of Rs.11,560 crore. A new Township Policy 2024 has also been implemented, with the government targeting a modern solid-waste management ecosystem and expansion of drinking water, sewerage, and digital civic services. Jaipur Greater Municipal Corporation ranked 16th nationally among cities with a population above 1,000,000 in the Swachh Survekshan 2025, while Udaipur secured 13th rank in the 3-10 lakh category, said Sharma, adding that such progress must be built upon to make the state a forerunner in public cleanliness. He also highlighted the nationwide 'Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari' (water conservation through public participation) drive, noting that Rajasthan was running its own "Vande Ganga Jal Sanrakshan Jan Abhiyan" in tandem. Under the 'Hariyalo Rajasthan' campaign, nearly 200 million saplings were planted across the state; with 100 million on target this year, he added. Addressing the youth employment agenda, Sharma highlighted that the state government formed an SIT and an AGTF to crack down on paper leaks, restored the integrity of competitive examinations, and has been consistently creating job opportunities for young people. Union minister of state for agriculture and farmers' welfare Bhagirath Choudhary, who also addressed the convention, praised the chief minister's outreach efforts. He noted that Sharma regularly visits villages and cities to listen directly to citizens and resolve their problems. He also highlighted the state government's decision to top up the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi for Rajasthan's farmers over and above the central contribution. Urban development and local self-government minister (Independent Charge) Jhabar Singh Kharra reiterated that the state government, under Sharma's leadership, was relentlessly working toward all-round development, good governance, and public welfare - spanning water management, energy, youth welfare, employee benefits, and infrastructure - to steer Rajasthan toward the 'Viksit Rajasthan 2047' goal....
