Jaipur, Aug. 15 -- The Centre has approved Rs.2,386.08 crore to upgrade two key national highway stretches connecting Sadhuwali-Banwala and Banwala-Hanumangarh to four lanes, officials said, adding that the move was expected to improve connectivity, reduce traffic congestion and boost economic activity in the Sri Ganganagar-Hanumangarh region. Chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union road transport and highways minister Nitin Gadkari for approving the project. He said the "double-engine government" was continuously working to strengthen Rajasthan's infrastructure and make people's lives easier. The project involves upgrading National Highway-954 (Sadhuwali-Banwala) and National Highway-54 (Banwala-Hanumangarh) to four lanes. Sharma said the strengthened road network would be a milestone for development in the border region and make travel between Sri Ganganagar and Hanumangarh faster, safer and more convenient. The four-laning is also expected to ease traffic pressure and congestion in busy areas such as Lalgarh Jattan and Pakka Saharana. Improved connectivity will facilitate access to major tourist attractions, including the historic Bhatner Fort and the Kalibanga Museum, giving a boost to tourism and local trade.
