CBI arrests BJP youth wing leader, brother
Jaipur, May 14 -- The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday arrested a local Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) youth wing leader and his brother from Jaipur district's Jamwa Ramgarh town over their alleged involvement in the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak, police said, sparking a fierce political row in Rajasthan.
A senior officer from the Rajasthan special operations group (SOG) said that Dinesh Biwal and his brother Mangilal were tracked down after they received a guess paper with 120 NEET-UG 2026 questions from Yash Yadav of Haryana.
"They bought the question paper for Rs.15 lakh and sold it to several students in Sikar. We detained them on Monday for questioning, while the CBI arrested them on Wednesday morning and took them to Delhi," the officer said.
The SOG officer, who was probing the case before the CBI took over the investigation, said the CBI is also examining how five candidates from Dinesh's family cracked the NEET exam last year.
"Dinesh's son, Mangilal's two sons, and their late elder brother's two daughters cracked the NEET exam last year, raising suspicion. The agency will now check if they attempted any malpractices even last year," he said.
The five students are currently studying in government medical colleges, the officer added.
"Dinesh's own son, who appeared in NEET this year went absconding along with one of those four children who cleared the exam last year. We are suspecting that Dinesh provided the paper to his own son as well. It is also possible that they attempted some irregularities in the NEET exam previous year. We are searching for them," said a senior officer from SOG requesting anonymity
The arrests triggered a political slugfest in the state, with the Congress attacking the ruling BJP over the arrest of Dinesh.
A local BJP leader in Jamwa Ramgarh said Dinesh had served as secretary of the BJP's youth wing in 2014 but had not been very active in the party since.
"Dinesh and Mangilal have long been in the moneylending business. We have no knowledge of their affiliation with any other political party or anti-social activities. The brothers have lived in Sikar for the past five or six years. SOG detained them from their Jamwa Ramgarh house around 7 pm on Monday evening," he added.
Dinesh's Facebook profile shows several photos with Rajasthan education minister Madan Dilawar from 2021 and recent ones with local BJP MLA Mahendra Pal Meena. Three days ago, Meena shared a photo of Dinesh on Facebook wishing him a happy birthday.
Speaking to news persons, Mangilal's wife denied the allegations. "There is no truth in this. My husband and brother-in-law have been wrongly framed. My husband was picked up from our home by 10 people. It is a conspiracy."
Responding to the Congress's allegations, BJP spokesperson Ram Lal Sharma said, "Dinesh was not very active in the party. He held no designation after 2014. Police are investigating. Necessary action will be taken against all culprits."...
