Jaipur, Sept. 8 -- High-decibel campaigning for the first phase of upcoming state civic body elections ended on Monday. Voting is scheduled for September 9. The first phase covers municipal corporations, municipal councils and municipalities in Jaipur and several other districts. Elections to all 309 urban bodies in the state are being held in two phases. The campaign witnessed extensive use of social media, with local influencers and digital content creators emerging as an important part of candidates' outreach strategies. Candidates largely preferred local creators familiar with the language, civic problems and social dynamics of their wards. Short videos highlighting civic issues such as roads, drinking water, sanitation, sewerage, parks, traffic and local development were widely circulated. Candidates in Jaipur, Jodhpur, Kota, Udaipur and Ajmer reportedly used artificial intelligence tools to aid their campaigns. Meanwhile, September 9 has been declared a public holiday in the Jaipur district constituencies voting in the first phase. Liquor shops in the polling areas will remain closed from 6 pm on September 7 until voting was complete.
