BTS sued over SWIM; BigHit denies plagiarism claims
India, July 11 -- The K-pop group BTS is facing a copyright lawsuit in the United States over its hit song SWIM, with their agency BigHit Music strongly rejecting the allegations. The complaint, filed by American songwriters Steve Cooper, John Sandler and Graylin Johnson, alleges that the track bears substantial similarities to an unreleased demo of the same name written by them.
As per Billboard, the lawsuit names HYBE, HYBE America, BigHit Music and several credited songwriters on SWIM as defendants, including Ryan Tedder of the American pop-rock band OneRepublic. While BTS leader RM is credited as a writer on the song, none of the group's seven members (RM, Jin, SUGA, J-hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook) have been named as defendants.
Calling the claims "one-sided", BigHit said in a statement to Xportsnews on Friday that SWIM is an original work and that the agency plans to respond through legal channels.HTC...
