barmer, Aug. 25 -- A five-year-old boy and his mother were injured in a blast in Barmer district on Monday after the child allegedly brought home a suspected bomb-like object he had found buried in a farm and later played with it, police said. The blast occurred in Bhilon Ka Tala village under the Bijrad police station area when the boy, Bhaira Ram, threw the object at a stone while playing, triggering a powerful explosion. According to the boy's father, Shravan Kumar, Bhaira Ram found the object while grazing goats and playing in the farm on Sunday. Recent rains had left several pits in the field, and the child reportedly spotted the object partially buried in the ground. He brought it home and kept it there, police said. On Monday morning, Bhaira Ram started playing with the object again. While playing, he threw it towards a stone, following which it exploded. His mother, who was standing a short distance away, was also caught in the blast. Bhaira Ram suffered severe injuries and burns across his body, while his mother also sustained injuries. Police have so far been informed that the object was bomb-like in appearance. However, officials said it was not yet clear whether it was an actual bomb or some other explosive material.
