Jaipur, Sept. 14 -- The Rajasthan government and BJP will organise a month-long series of outreach and public-service programmes across the state from September 17 to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday and highlight his 25 years in public office, chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma said on Sunday. The programmes, under the BJP's nationwide "Seva Sankalp Abhiyan", will continue until October 17, from the state to block and booth levels. Ministers, elected representatives, officials and BJP workers will participate. Addressing a press conference with BJP state president Madan Rathore, Sharma said the campaign would begin with "Aashirwad Ka Diya", under which people will light lamps at 7pm on September 17. Under "Seva Setu Abhiyan", block-level camps will help eligible residents access central and state welfare schemes. Officials will provide information and assist with applications and obtaining benefits, Sharma said. Schools will hold painting competitions on "Viksit Bharat" and "25 years of service", while street plays in villages will publicise government schemes and their impact on beneficiaries. The campaign will also honour Anganwadi and ASHA workers and highlight beneficiaries' experiences. Other BJP programmes include "Seva Jyoti Kalash Yatra", a Vadnagar-Varanasi yatra, public-service initiatives, exhibitions using rangoli and folk art, and an innovation challenge for students, startups and young innovators. The campaign will end with a "Good Governance Seva Samvad". Sharma said Modi had a "special affinity" for Rajasthan and referred to the supply of Narmada water to the state during Modi's tenure as Gujarat CM . Rathore said the party had earlier marked Modi's birthday with a fortnight-long service campaign but had extended it to one month this year.
