Jaipur, May 20 -- Leader of Opposition Tikaram Jully on Tuesday said the latest Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report validated concerns repeatedly raised in the Rajasthan Assembly about the state's finances under the BJP government. He alleged that the BJP's claims of outperforming the previous Congress regime had been "completely exposed" by the CAG findings. "The truth is that Rajasthan is not progressing in development, but moving ahead in debt," he said. Citing the audit, Jully said Rajasthan ranked among the worst-performing states for capital expenditure, managing to spend only 51.82% of the allocated development budget. "If hospitals, schools and roads are not being built, where will employment opportunities for youth come from?" he asked, accusing the government of failing to invest in infrastructure and public development. Commenting on the report, senior BJP leader Rajendra Rathore said much of the state's debt was inherited from the Congress government. He accused the previous administration of keeping capital expenditure low and burdening state finances with non-plan expenditure.
