Jaipur, Sept. 9 -- Former chief minister Ashok Gehlot on Tuesday claimed that the BJP was heading for a major defeat in the upcoming urban body elections. Gehlot took to X to dismiss chief minister's persistent roadshow campaign as a "flop". He also cited alleged threats by ministers and MLAs to stop development in wards if BJP candidates were not elected as signs of growing anti-incumbency. He also alleged that GST raids were being conducted at establishments linked to BJP rebel candidates and that some of their businesses were being sealed. Claiming that he had never witnessed such an atmosphere against a ruling party in the state, the former chief minister said people were "fed up" with what he termed two-and-a-half years of BJP misrule. He predicted that voters would turn out in large numbers on September 9 and 11 to ensure what he described as a "one-sided defeat" for the BJP. The former chief ministyer added that a Congress victory and the defeat of the ruling party in the civic elections would force the ruling party to listen to public concerns and work according to the people's voice during its remaining two-and-a-half years in power....
