Jaipur, June 12 -- Elections to all three Rajya Sabha seats from Rajasthan were concluded unopposed on Thursday, out of which the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured two seats and the Congress retained one, an official release from the state assembly said. BJP candidates Satish Poonia and Alka Singh Gurjar, along with Congress candidate Neeraj Dangi, were declared elected after the deadline for withdrawal of nominations expired and no additional candidates remained in the fray. The announcement was made by the returning officer and Rajasthan assembly secretary, Bharat Bhushan Sharma, who also issued certificates of election to all three candidates. Voting for the Rajya Sabha elections had been scheduled for June 18, but with only three candidates contesting for three vacancies, polling became unnecessary. The newly elected members will serve a six-year term until June 2032. Affidavits submitted along with nomination papers reveal that all three newly elected Rajya Sabha members are crorepatis. Among the BJP candidates, Alka Singh Gurjar has declared assets higher than those of fellow party nominee Satish Poonia. However, Congress leader Neeraj Dangi has emerged as the wealthiest among the three candidates, with assets exceeding those declared by both BJP nominees. With the latest results, Rajasthan continues to have an equal representation of five Rajya Sabha lawmakers each from the BJP and the Congress. The BJP's current Rajya Sabha members from Rajasthan are Satish Poonia, Alka Singh Gurjar, Madan Rathore, Ghanshyam Tiwari and Chunnilal Garasia. The Congress is represented by Sonia Gandhi, Mukul Wasnik, Randeep Singh Surjewala, Pramod Tiwari and Neeraj Dangi. The next elections to the Upper House in Rajasthan will be held in June 2028, when four seats are due to fall vacant. The terms of Congress MPs Randeep Singh Surjewala, Mukul Wasnik and Pramod Tiwari, along with BJP lawmaker Ghanshyam Tiwari, will expire that year....
