BJP, Cong spar over temple donation theft
JAIPUR, July 15 -- Rajasthan BJP president Madan Rathore on Tuesday alleged that a systematic conspiracy was underway to target places of worship and hurt religious sentiments, claiming that "foreign forces" could also be involved. Escalating the political row over the alleged donation theft at the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya and the subsequent controversy over Butati Dham in Nagaur's Degana, Rathore said Rajasthan Congress president Govind Singh Dotasra had "scored a self goal" by blaming the BJP over the Butati Dham case, arguing that the shrine's management was controlled by Congress-linked individuals.
Addressing the media, Rathore accused the Congress of trying to politicise the issue and criticised Dotasra for linking the BJP to the alleged donation theft at Butati Dham. He claimed that the shrine's management had long been controlled by Congress members. "Dotasra's attempt to blame the BJP has backfired. He tried to defame the BJP but ended up exposing his own party," Rathore said, adding that the facts had put the opposition "in the dock."
The Congress rejected Rathore's allegations. Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee general secretary Swarnim Chaturvedi said, "When the BJP takes credit for the construction of the Ram Temple through the trust, it must also accept responsibility. Financial irregularities at a place of faith are not just an attack on the trust of ordinary devotees but also expose the reality of those who do politics in the name of religion," Chaturvedi said....
