Bairwa escapes major accident after convoy breach in Jhunjhunu
Jaipur, Feb. 15 -- Deputy chief minister Prem Chand Bairwa narrowly escaped a major accident on Saturday after a private car driven by a local Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader breached his convoy in Jhunjhunu district, a police officer aware of the matter said.
Station House Officer (SHO) of Gudha police station, Suresh Roli, said the incident occurred in the Gudhageraji area when Bairwa was on his way to attend a function at a private school in Udaipurwati. "The vehicle that was hit was the one immediately behind the deputy chief minister's car. No one was injured," Roli said.
According to police, the convoy was passing through Gudhagelaji around 10.45 am, and traffic had been halted in accordance with security protocol. At the same time, local BJP leader JP Khatana was reportedly heading toward a resort in the area.
"His car breached the convoy. The escort vehicle tried to avoid a collision, lost control and eventually collided with the private car," Roli said.
Both vehicles sustained damage in the incident. Officials travelling in the escort vehicle were shifted to another vehicle in the convoy. Bairwa was unharmed, police said.
The SHO added that no first information report (FIR) has been registered so far.
This is not the first instance of a security breach involving the deputy chief minister's convoy.

Police said the driver was under the influence of alcohol. No injuries were reported in that case.
