Jaipur, Aug. 20 -- The roof of another government school building in Tonk collapsed on Tuesday due to heavy rainfall when at least 25 students were giving test in the next room, officials familiar with the matter said, adding that nobody was injured. Uniara Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Shatrughna Singh Gurjar said: "The Incident happened at around 9 am at Kakor Govt Girls' Senior Secondary school in Tonk's Uniara. The room where the roof collapsed was closed for over four years as it was in a dilapidated condition. Due to heavy rainfall since Monday night, the roof collapsed on Tuesday. Nobody was injured but it could have been fatal." He further said: "At least 125 students are enroled in this school - of whom 25 of Class IX were taking a test in the next room. Everyone is safe but the Incident created a panic among the students, staff, and parents." Soon after the incident the chief block education officer and the SDM reached the spot to check the situation. "There are a total 17 classrooms in the school, of which 15 are in a dilapidated condition. We have directed to shift the students to the nearby boys' school temporarily till the building is not renovated," he said. Gurjar said that a probe will be conducted into the matter. "The school committee should have sent a report and application for the renovation of the building. But they failed to do so in the last four years leading to the mishap on Tuesday. We will take necessary action against the accountable officials," he added....
