Alwar, Udaipur bag top honours for clean air, wetland management
Jaipur, Sept. 11 -- Alwar and Udaipur have brought laurels to Rajasthan, with Alwar winning recognition in the national Clean Air Survey 2025 and Udaipur becoming one of the first two Indian cities to receive the Wetland City accreditation under the Ramsar Convention organised by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC).
Out of 130 cities evaluated under the 2025 Clean Air Survey, 11 were awarded for their outstanding performance, with Alwar being among them. The city was honoured for its exemplary initiatives towards the goal of "Clean Air for All."
Meanwhile, Udaipur became one of India's first two cities to receive accreditation under the Ramsar Convention's Wetland City Accreditation Scheme, a distinction that highlights its leadership in sustainable environmental protection and wetland management. The award ceremony was held at Ganga Auditorium, Indira Paryavaran Bhawan in Delhi, where Union minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav presented the honours. District collectors of Alwar and Udaipur, along with the Alwar municipal commissioner, accepted the awards on behalf of their cities.
Prateek Juyikar, Director of Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban), Rajasthan, said the recognition for Alwar and Udaipur is a matter of pride for the state.
