ACB raids RTO officials properties in disproportionate assets case
Jaipur, July 27 -- Rajasthan Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Saturday conducted a search operation at the six properties belonging to the Regional Transport Office (RTO) inspector in Sirohi, Sujanaram Chaudhary, for allegedly accumulating 201% disproportionate assets, said officials.
In an official statement, the ACB said, "A complaint was received against Chaudhary a few months ago following which the ACB launched an internal probe into his assets which revealed that he occupies a large amount of assets which is 201% more than his income. After the primary probe, we have sent 12 teams of the ACb to six locations to conduct a search operation on Saturday."
According to the ACB officials, the search was conducted in Chaudhary's one residence in Jalore's Bhinmal, two residences under the Rajasthan Housing Board in Jodhpur's Ashapurna City, a commercial plot in Jodhpur's Shastrinagar, a residential plot in Sirohi's Mount Abu, and his office at the Sirohi RTO.
The search is underway under the supervision of the Additional Police Superintendent of ACB in Pali Khiv Singh.
"Since his joining in the service, Chaudhary has occupied a Rs.2.5 crores assets on his own name. At least 15 residencial and commercial plots have also been found across the state which is about Rs.3 crores while his seven bank accounts also revealed transactions of more than crores of rupees," said an official.
He also said, "After the raid, we will seek an approval to prosecute him from the Transport department as per the section 17A of the Prevention of Corruption Act. Once we get the approval, we will arrest him."
The move also comes a month after the agency conducted a similar raid at eight places in Rajasthan after they found about 273% disproportionate assets held by an executive officer (EO) in Pabta municipal corporation, Fateh Singh Meena.
ACB also conducted a search operation at the premises of Public Works Department's executive engineer Hariprasad Meena in connection to a 200% disproportionate assets case on April 10.
According to preliminary findings, Meena allegedly accumulated wealth worth nearly Rs 4 crore, which is estimated to be around 200% more than his earnings since joining government service.
