Abhishek Sharma fined25% match fee for dissent in KKR clash
India, April 4 -- Sunrisers Hyderabad vice-captain Abhishek Sharma has been fined 25% of his match fee and handed one demerit point for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during his team's IPL 2026 clash against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, on Thursday.
The left-hander showed visible dissent after being adjudged out, appearing unconvinced by a catch taken by Varun Chakravarthy. Though the decision was upheld after a check, Abhishek lingered at the crease and gestured in frustration before walking back to the pavilion, drawing the attention of match officials.
"He admitted to a Level 1 offence under Article 2.3 and accepted the Match Referee's sanction. For Level 1 breaches, the decision is final and binding," the IPL said in a statement.
Abhishek, who looked in good touch, fell for 48 to Blessing Muzarabani after a diving catch by Varun.
