A month after kota deaths, women still on ventilator aid
Kota, June 13 -- A month after a spate of maternal deaths at hospitals attached to Kota Medical College triggered widespread concern, several women admitted during the same period remain in critical condition and are dependent on dialysis and ventilator support. While preliminary investigations have ruled out treatment negligence, the exact cause behind the complications is yet to be established.
While the Health Department has been making efforts to restore public confidence in government hospitals, the condition of some affected women has shown little significant improvement despite weeks of intensive treatment.
The deaths of the women had led to a sharp decline in patient admissions, leaving several wards nearly empty. However, hospital services have gradually returned to normal. The outpatient department (OPD) is functioning routinely, and more than 50 patients are currently admitted to the gynaecology department. Family members of women who remain hospitalized say there has been little improvement. Relatives of patient Ragini said her health shows signs of improvement on some days, only to deteriorate again the next day.
