Jaipur, March 18 -- Five passengers were killed and over a dozen injured in a head-on collision between a private sleeper bus and a trolley on a mega highway in Hanumangarh on Tuesday morning, said police. The accident occurred around 7 am near Baramsar on Sardarshehar Road in the Rawatsar police station area. The bus was travelling from Sri Ganganagar to Jaipur when it attempted to overtake two mustard-laden trolleys parked on the roadside, officials said. "During the manoeuvre, it collided head-on with an oncoming trolley," they added. Police launched a rescue operation and shifted the injured to Rawatsar hospital with the help of ambulances. Those critically injured were referred to the district hospital, said police, adding that five people had died before reaching the hospital, while three to four critically injured passengers were referred to Hanumangarh. Seven others are undergoing treatment at Rawatsar hospital. Former Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot expressed grief over the incident, calling it "extremely tragic" and praying for peace for the deceased and strength for their families, while wishing a speedy recovery to the injured. Leader of Opposition Tikaram Jully also condoled the deaths, terming the accident deeply saddening and extending his sympathies to the bereaved families....
