39-yr-old man held for raping minor daughter
BIKANER, May 20 -- Police arrested a 39-year-old man in Hanumangarh district for sexually assaulting his minor daughter, officers said on Monday.
According to the police, the victim's mother filed a complaint in Mahila Police Station on May 17, alleged her husband had raped their 14-year-old daughter. Police booked the accused under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
District superintendent of police Narendra Singh Meena said the matter was treated with urgency because of the seriousness of the allegations and that officials were directed to trace and arrest the accused immediately. A special team, led by Mahila Police Station SHO Rajandeep Kour, launched a search operation after the FIR was registered and arrested the accused on May 18.
SHO Rajandeep Kour told HT that the incident occurred on May 14 at a brick kiln, where the accused allegedly sexually assaulted his daughter. "Medical examinations of both the victim and the accused were conducted after the arrest," she said.
Kour said the victim's mother had separated from the accused about three years ago and left with her sons, while the accused continued living with the girl at the brick kiln.
She said that during interrogation the accused allegedly confessed to the crime. He was produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody. Police said the investigation is ongoing....
