Jaipur, Sept. 5 -- The state government will accelerate redevelopment bids across over 300 temples and other centres of worship across the state, officials said, adding that a spike in religious tourist footfall prompted the move. A senior official said Rajasthan received 108.5 million domestic tourists and around 845,000 foreign tourists till June. The number of visitors has risen sharply over the past few years, he said, adding that a key chunk were drawn to prominent religious sites. He said the government has drawn up an extensive plan for the conservation, restoration, beautification and infrastructure development of temples and other religious sites. Over 300 religious places have been included under various budget announcements, with administrative and financial approvals worth nearly Rs.100 crore already issued for development works at 148 sites. According to the government's development plan, budget announcements have covered 39 religious sites in 2024-25 and 278 sites in 2025-26, while another 16 works have been proposed under the 2026-27 budget. The focus is on restoration, beautification, improved access and expansion of facilities for pilgrims and tourists. Major development works have been proposed at several temples, including Kaila Devi Temple, Gogaji Temple at Gogamedi in Hanumangarh, Dattatreya Temple in Kumher in Deeg, Jamwai Mata Temple in Jaipur district, Ganga Temple in Bharatpur, Mathuradhish Ji Temple in Kota, Nasiyan Ji in Viratnagar in Kotputli-Behror and Dau Madan Mohan Temple in Bharatpur....
