3 killed as talks over marriage turn violent
BIKANER, July 17 -- Three men, including a father and son, were allegedly stabbed to death after talks to resolve a dispute over a marriage alliance turned violent in Bikaner district on Thursday afternoon, police said.
The incident occurred around 1.20 pm in Surjanwali village. According to deputy SP Akanksha Choudhary, the deceased were identified as Ali Sher, a resident of Surjanwali, and Jindu Khan, along with his son Karim Khan, both residents of nearby Kharawali village.
SHO Navneet Kumar said members of the two related families had gathered for an informal community-mediated negotiation over a proposed marriage alliance. According to the SHO, the accused side was allegedly pressuring the complainant's family to marry off their sister into their family, but they were unwilling to do so. The disagreement escalated during the talks, leading to the attack.
Police said the two sides allegedly attacked each other with knives and scissors. Ali Sher, Jindu Khan and Karim Khan sustained fatal injuries.
One person, Nabe Khan, was also injured in the clash and was rushed to the CHC for treatment, the SHO said. His condition was not immediately known.
Police deployed additional personnel to maintain law and order at the village. The bodies were sent for post-mortem examination. Police said they are identifying all those involved in the attack and a case is being registered....
