Udaipur, May 4 -- An illegal sword manufacturing unit was busted in Rajsamand district, with police arresting three people and recovering 9,228 swords, police officers said on Sunday. According to police, the unit was operating secretly from a scrap warehouse and a welding shop in Nathdwara. SHO Vikram Singh said, "We received information that swords were being illegally manufactured and stocked in a scrap warehouse at Upli Odan area. Acting on the tip-off, police raided the premises and recovered 9,032 swords." He added that two accused, Ajay Sikligar and Sonu Suthar, failed to produce any valid documents related to the weapons. Police also seized grinders, welding machines and polishing machines from the spot. Several swords were fully prepared, while many were under process. In a second raid at a welding shop in the same area, police recovered another 196 swords and arrested Sikandar Sikligar.
