Jaipur, March 7 -- 20 people were injured after a gallery wall collapsed inside a mosque in Jaipur's Bhatta Basti on Friday, said police. The incident occurred at around 2.30pm when people were preparing to leave the premises of Firdaus Masjid after namaz, said deputy commissioner of police (North) Karan Sharma, adding that a portion of the wall adjoining the first-floor gallery came apart and fell below, causing debris to fall upon exiting worshippers. The section measured around 4 to 5 feet, he added. Locals and the Bhatta Basti police immediately began rescue operations and managed to rescue the injured. Six out of these- identified as Rustam (40), Ishan (34), Khursheed (25), Suhail (25), Imam Zafar (20) and Iqbal (18), are reportedly in critical condition and under treatment at Sawai Man Singh Hospital in Jaipur, said police. Around 15 others are currently undergoing minor treatment at Kanwatia Hospital. Kanwatia Hospital Superintendent Dr RS Tanwar said one of the injured suffered a head injury and was given stitches, while others received primary treatment and were discharged. Kanya (18 from Panipech who was at the mosque when the wall collapsed said she saw debris fall upon people who had not completed their prayers and suffered injuries to her back and waist in the incident. The DSP said that a probe into the matter was underway and the cause of the wall collapse was yet to be determined....
