JAIPUR, Aug. 15 -- Two people were detained and an FIR registered in connection with the death of a Class-XII student at Maharana Pratap School in Jhotwara on August 12, police said on Friday. Those detained were identified as school operator Amit Kumawat and administrator Rajendra Singh, said officers aware of the matter. The case was registered on August 13 under Section 106(1) of the BNS. According to the complaint, the student ate a patty from the school canteen during lunch and subsequently fell ill. He was taken to the school's rest room, where his condition allegedly deteriorated for some time. The complaint, citing CCTV footage, alleged that there was a delay in providing medical assistance and taking the student to a hospital. The student's father, Amit Soni, alleged negligence by the school administration, saying his son could have been saved had he been taken to a hospital in time. Meanwhile, a team from the office of the Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO-I) collected food samples from the school canteen and from the supplier who provided the patties. The samples will be sent to a laboratory for testing. Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Prashant Kiran said that the cause of death would be clear after the post-mortem examination.
