Jaipur, Sept. 8 -- The state has recorded at least 2,966 cases of rape in the first six months of 2025, showed data from the Home Department, tabled in response to an unstarred question by Congress MLA Shanti Dhariwal. As per the data, which was tabled on Friday and released on Sunday, Jaipur has recorded the highest number of instances - 340, followed by 143 in Alwar, 111 in Ajmer, 98 in Bikaner and 96 in Dholpur. Commenting on the government report, a senior police officer from the civil rights unit said, "This reflects a more vigilante system by the police. However, cases have decreased compared to the last two years. Many are also sometimes found to be fake. We are spreading awareness to inform women about steps to be taken in such situations."
