Jaipur, Aug. 11 -- The Centre has informed the Rajya Sabha that redevelopment of 18 out of 85 chosen railway stations in the state under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS) has been completed. Union raiway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw tabled the figures in the upper House on August 7 in response to a question by Congress MP Neeraj Dangi. Across the country, 1340 stations were chosen under the scheme, he said. The scheme envisages long-term redevelopment through master plans and phased execution and aims to transform stations into city-centre-like hubs. Redevelopment was complete at Barmer, Bundi, Dausa, Deeg, Deshnoke, Fatehnagar, Fatehpur Shekhawati, Gangapur City, Gogameri, Gotan, Govind Garh, Jaisalmer, Khairthal, Mandal Garh, Mandawar Mahwa Road, Rajgarh, Sojat Road and Somesar, said the minister. The redevelopment plan for Jaisalmer incluides a new station building, a 36-metre-wide air concourse, six-metre-wide foot overbridge, improved parking and circulating areas, platform shelters, upgraded platforms, lifts and escalators. Barmer station has been upgraded with an improved station building and circulating area, a 12-metre-wide foot overbridge, platform shelters, upgraded platforms, waiting hall, toilets and lifts. The redevelopment of major Jaipur stations is also underway. At Gandhinagar Jaipur station, work on the station building at the main entry and second entry, a two-level basement, air concourse, launching of the through roof, platform shelters, platform surface and circulating area has been completed, data from the ministry showed. At Jaipur Junction, many key structural components including a six-metre-wide foot overbridge at the Dausa end, basement work on the second-entry side, the approach road, structural work for the main-entry-side basement, the air concourse and an eight-metre-wide central foot overbridge connecting the concourse, are completed. Currently, a six-metre-wide foot overbridge at the Sikar end is under construction, structural work on the main entrance is underway, a foot overbridge along the track is being and roofing and flooring work on the central foot overbridge is underway. Churu, Falna and Jawai Bandh railway stations are undergoing extensive redevelopment with upgraded station buildings, waiting areas, toilets, platform shelters, parking and passenger amenities. Churu has completed its new station building, booking office and waiting facilities, while a 12-metre foot overbridge and lifts are under construction. Falna has improved its entrance, circulating area, parking, platforms and Divyangjan facilities, with an FOB, toilets and lifts underway. The ministry has not provided a separate Rajasthan-specific allocation for station redevelopment, with funding under Plan Head-53 maintained zone-wise. Rajasthan falls under five railway zones, which together received Rs.5,642 crore for 2026-27, of which Rs.1,696 crore was spent by June 2026. Station works are prioritised based on requirements, passenger traffic and fund availability. Meanwhile, Rajasthan has 10 of the country's 142 commissioned Gati Shakti Cargo Terminals, supporting freight infrastructure and private investment. Fourteen additional GCT locations in the state have received in-principle approval. Nationally, 142 terminals handled 146 million tonnes of freight in 2025-26 and attracted about Rs.10,000 crore in private investment....
