13 members of Hemraj Suman gang held: Police
Jaipur, Oct. 1 -- 13 members of the notorious Hemraj Suman gang have been arrested in a targeted operation by Jhalawar police, police said on Tuesday, adding that one of the arrested members was a woman.
The gang was active in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, police said, adding that they were allegedly involved in a wide range of criminal activity - insurance fraud, honey-trapping, extortion among them.
According to Jhalawar superintendent of police Amit Kumar, the Kotwali intelligence submitted officer submitted a confidential report about the gang's activities and modus operandi - the report said that the gangs bought tractors and other heavy vehicles, registered them in the names of poor locals, and then destroyed them to claim false insurance proceeds by filing fabricated theft complaints.
The prime accused, Hemraj Suman, and his associates were arrested through simultaneous raids in Jhalawar, Jhalrapatan, Sarola, and Kota, police said, adding that a police uniform , vehicle documents, property deeds, multiple bank passbooks and a pre-typed rape complaint were among items recovered.
A Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by DySP Harshraj Singh Khareda and DySP Premkumar has been formed to probe the matter in detail, they added....
