Ajmer, Sept. 8 -- Around 11 people were killed as a result of snakebites across Rajasthan during August and early September, amid ongoing monsoon conditions in the state, The most recent case was reported on Sunday in Bhilwara district and involved two sisters aged 5 and 2 respectively, who were identified as Krishna and Bhawna, Officials said the sisters and their mother were visiting her parental home in Mokhampura village when the children woke their mother up early in the day with snakebite wounds visible on their limbs. The girls were rushed to the Community Health Centre in Raipur, where doctors declared Bhawna dead. Krishna was given initial treatment and referred to Bhilwara, but she died while being shifted to the hospital. Police later conducted post-mortems and handed over the bodies to the family for the last rites. Earlier, in Dausa, a pair of siblings who had travelled with their mother to their maternal grandparents' home for Raksha Bandhan died after being bitten by a snake while sleeping on a cot. In another incident in the district, eight-year-old Kartik died after a venomous snake bit him while he was sleeping. In Chirawa, Jhunjhunu, a farmer named Tarawati died after being bitten by a snake while working in her field. Similarly, Kasam Khan of Sadulpur in Churu was bitten by a snake while working in his field on August 22. He was referred to PBM Hospital in Bikaner, where he died during treatment. In Dausa's Dandan area, 21-year-old student Avdhesh Meena died in early September after being bitten by a common krait while sleeping in his rented room. In Reodar, Sirohi, 31-year-old snake catcher Jeetu Meghwal died after being bitten by a snake on the same night he had rescued a snake trapped in a motorcycle at a bus stand. In Kapasan, Chittorgarh, Ratan Lal Gurjar died after a venomous snake bit him near his ear. In Neemrana, Alwar, 25-year-old Kuldeep died during treatment at SMS Hospital in Jaipur after being bitten by a snake while cutting fodder....
