Jaipur, Sept. 30 -- With the municipal elections over, the Jaipur Police Commissionerate on Tuesday withdrew an order issued during the polls and released seven directives covering late-night establishments, CCTV cameras, hotel guests, domestic workers, SIM cards, second-hand vehicles and modified motorcycles. The directives were issued by Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Pradeep Mohan Sharma under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita. They apply across the commissionerate area from September 30 to November 28, unless withdrawn earlier. In a separate order, Sharma withdrew with immediate effect a September 19 directive issued during the municipal elections. Hotels, restaurants, guest houses, nightclubs, bars, pubs, malls, boarding and eating houses, and farmhouses where alcohol or hookah is served have been directed to stop using loudspeakers after 10 pm. The order also says alcohol sales at hotels and bars must stop after midnight, and prohibits the use of banned intoxicants at these establishments. The CCTV directive covers a wide range of premises, including banks, ATMs, shops, petrol pumps, malls, hotels, bars, schools, colleges and coaching institutes. Another order requires hotels, guest houses, lodges and dharamshalas must record guests' full names, addresses, mobile numbers and ID details, keep copies of authorised IDs, and immediately report suspicious activity to police. Homeowners and institutions have been directed to arrange police verification of domestic workers, drivers, guards, caretakers, private employees and sales staff, and retain their identity and personal details. The order cites earlier criminal cases involving domestic workers in explaining the measure. Mobile dealers and SIM retailers must verify buyers before issuing connections, maintain daily records (name, address, ID, photograph) of prepaid/postpaid sales, preserve them for five years and produce them on demand.
