Tanker overturns, spills diesel on Dwarka E-way
New Delhi, June 4 -- Hundreds of litres of diesel spilled onto the Dwarka Expressway after an oil tanker overturned on Tajpur flyover near Goyla Dairy in Chhawla on Tuesday night. Traffic was diverted to the service road for several hours.
Deputy commissioner of police (Dwarka) Kushal Pal Singh said the police control room received information around 9.15pm. "A call regarding overturning of a diesel tanker on Tajpur flyover, on the Najafgarh to Dwarka carriageway of the expressway, was received. A team from Chhawla station reached the flyover and found a tanker belonging to Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited overturned and diesel spilling out," Singh said. No injuries were reported, officials said.
"As a precautionary measure, traffic was diverted to the service road and HPCL officials were informed. They sent teams which carried out vehicle recovery, diesel leakage stoppage, and also cleared the spillage," the DCP said.
Several residents from nearby localities collected the spilling diesel in buckets and cans; videos of people filling containers surfaced on social media.
According to police, the tanker driver and others were questioned. No case has been filed, they added....
