New Delhi, Sept. 27 -- A 45-year-old auto driver was killed and a rickshaw puller injured after a speeding car, allegedly racing another vehicle, rammed into an auto-rickshaw near Sukhdev Vihar Metro station in south Delhi on Saturday morning, police said. Mohd Talib, 21, the driver of the Hyundai i20, was arrested after questioning. Police identified the deceased as Mohammad Kalam, a resident of Khizrabad near New Friends Colony. The injured was Mohammad Bablu, a rickshaw puller. Eyewitnesses said the white i20 was speeding while arriving from the Modi Mill flyover and appeared to be racing another car. The driver lost control, hit the auto-rickshaw, then a cycle rickshaw and pavement. The four occupants left in the second car, officers said. Rakesh, who runs a tea stall nearby, said, "Both vehicles were going towards Jamia Nagar. The white i20 hit the auto and a cycle rickshaw. Four people were inside the car. They came out and left in the other car that stopped a few metres ahead." Police said it was unclear if the driver was intoxicated and were verifying the race allegation and crash sequence. DCP (Southeast) Vineet Kumar said NFC police received information at 7.15am. Both vehicles had Delhi registration numbers. The injured were taken to a private hospital, where Kalam was declared dead. "The forensic team and crime scene inspection team collected evidence. A case has been registered under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita's sections 281 (rash driving) and 106 (causing death by negligence), and an investigation is in progress," added the DCP....
