Rudrapur, July 30 -- Cyber criminals allegedly siphoned Rs.1.52 crore from the bank account of a farmer in Udham Singh Nagar's Dineshpur area while he was undergoing treatment at a private hospital, police said. An FIR has been registered against unidentified cyber criminals at the Pantnagar cyber crime police station on the complaint of the farmer, police said. "We have lodged an FIR on the complaint of the farmer under relevant sections and started an investigation into the case," said Arun Kumar, in-charge of the Pantnagar cyber crime police station. The complainant, Sawroop Singh, a resident of Motipura-Buxora village, told police that he held two accounts with a private bank in Dineshpur and had deposited Rs.1.82 crore in them after selling his farm land. According to Singh's complaint, when he was admitted to a private hospital for treatment from July 22 to 27, cyber criminals allegedly activated the bank's mobile application using his registered mobile number and siphoned Rs.1.52 crore.
