Roadwork delays irk residents of Sec 109, 112
Gurugram, April 2 -- Residents of sectors 109 and 112 have raised concerns over deteriorating condition of Sector 109/112 master dividing road, alleging that the damaged stretch has made daily commute difficult.
Sunny Daultabad, convenor of Dwarka Expressway Gurugram Development Authority (DXP-GDA), said, "Residents have to use a narrow road which is also in a poor shape to reach Dwarka Expressway. There are 10 societies in Sector 109 and one in sector 112," he said.
The road falls under Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) jurisdiction.
"The entire road has become synonymous with dust. The stretch has been dug up and work takes place intermittently. A basic infrastructure like a proper road now feels like a luxury," said Gaurav Prakash, a Sector 109 resident.
The work started from October 22, 2024. However, was delayed as some trees were obstructing the road, said GMDA officials, adding that the project costs Rs.6.11 crore.
"We had to take approval from the forest department in writing for cutting them off. The work officially began from April 1, 2025," said Shekhar Nandal, executive engineer at GMDA.
"About 90% of the drain work has been completed and the remaining work will be carried out soon. The deadline for construction of a footpath is June 15. Work on the main carriageway is also underway. The delay occurred due to unfavourable weather conditions and implementation of the graded response action plan ," he added....
