Ghaziabad, June 1 -- Police detained a 23-year-old para-athlete for the murder of his friend, also a para-athlete whose body was found at Sai Upvan city forest near GT Road on Saturday. "The suspect brought Chirag Tyagi, 24, in a cab from Delhi and had him disembark at Mahamaya Stadium near the New Bus Adda metro station. He then asked Tyagi to walk to nearby Sai Upvan, where he was expecting a friend to arrive to pay Rs.50,000. After both walked to Sai Upvan, the suspect shot him from behind and fled to his village," said ACP Upasana Pandey. An FIR was registered under BNS Section 103(1) at Kotwali police station. The suspect confessed, telling police he believed Tyagi was responsible for his disqualification over a document verification dispute.
